HTML Stands for HyperText Markup Language The terminology, “Hypertext” was first used by Ted Nelson in 1960s. Markup language is way to write documents, describing overall structure of the contents inside the documents and not its real appearance on the page or on the display HTML allows the user to link as many number of pages as he wants which are inter-related and can be stored anywhere.HTML markup tags are usually called HTML tags HTML tags are keywords surrounded by angular brackets likeHTML tags normally come in pairs like and The first tag in a pair is the start tag, the second tag is the end tag The end tag is written like the start tag, with a forward slash before the tag name Start and end tags are also called opening tags and closing tags.



In this course HTML documents are simple text files Browsers actually acts as HTML formatters No compilation needed as other programming languages.It is not casesensitive language HTML documents can be read on any type of computer display.
